Strengthening Educators to Empower Girls: EVW Manages the KGBV Capacity Building Workshop in Berhampur

At EVW, we take pride in managing events that go beyond logistics and contribute meaningfully to social development. On 10th and 11th December 2025, we successfully organised the “Capacity Building Workshop for KGBV Part-Time Teachers on Girls’ Empowerment, Leadership, Learning and Skills” at Spectrum Hotel, Berhampur—a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the role of educators in shaping empowered, confident, and future-ready girls.

The two-day workshop was organised by UNICEF Odisha, in association with OSEPA, Government of Odisha, and Samagra Shiksha, bringing together part-time teachers from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state. The programme focused on enhancing teachers’ capacities to support adolescent girls through education, leadership development, and life-skills learning, especially in residential school settings.

Building Capacity Where It Matters Most

KGBVs play a critical role in ensuring access to quality education for girls from disadvantaged and marginalised communities. Teachers in these institutions are not only educators but also mentors, role models, and support systems for students navigating academic, social, and personal challenges.

The workshop recognised this pivotal role and aimed to equip teachers with:

  • Improved understanding of girls’ empowerment and leadership
  • Practical approaches to promote learning outcomes and life skills
  • Tools to create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments
  • Strategies to nurture confidence, decision-making, and aspirations among girls

By strengthening educators, the initiative sought to create a multiplier effect, where empowered teachers lead to empowered students.

EVW’s Role: Delivering a Seamless Learning Experience

As the event management partner, EVW worked closely with UNICEF Odisha and government stakeholders to ensure that the workshop was executed smoothly and professionally. Our approach focused on creating an environment that supported focused learning, meaningful interaction, and participant comfort.

How we managed seamlessly through:

  • End-to-end event planning and coordination
  • Venue management and workshop setup aligned with the programme objectives
  • Stage and session flow management to ensure timely delivery
  • Audio-visual and technical arrangements for presentations and discussions
  • Participant coordination, registration, and on-ground support
  • Real-time troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted sessions

Every detail—from seating arrangements to session transitions—was planned with care to support an engaging and productive learning experience.

An Environment for Learning, Reflection, and Exchange

The two-day format of the workshop allowed for in-depth discussions, reflections, and peer learning. Participants engaged with the themes of empowerment, leadership, and skills development through interactive sessions designed to resonate with their daily classroom realities.

Our team ensured that the venue setup and logistics supported:

  • Clear visibility and audibility for all participants
  • Comfortable spaces for discussions and group activities
  • Smooth transitions between sessions to maintain momentum

By creating a well-organised and welcoming environment, the workshop enabled teachers to focus fully on learning and sharing experiences.

Collaboration for Inclusive and Future-Ready Education

Managing the KGBV Capacity Building Workshop reinforced the importance of strong collaboration between development organisations, government institutions, and implementation partners. Working alongside UNICEF Odisha, OSEPA, and Samagra Shiksha was a privilege, as the initiative aligns closely with broader goals of gender equity, inclusive education, and adolescent empowerment.

For EVW, such engagements reaffirm our commitment to supporting programmes that contribute to systemic change—especially those that strengthen educators, who are at the heart of any learning ecosystem.

Way forward

The successful organisation of this workshop underscores EVW’s capability in managing capacity-building and knowledge-focused engagements with sensitivity, professionalism, and attention to detail. As we continue to partner with government and development stakeholders, we remain dedicated to creating platforms that enable learning, encourage dialogue, and support long-term impact.

It was an honour to manage this meaningful workshop—one that contributes to building inclusive, empowered, and future-ready learning environments for girls across Odisha.

At EVW, we are proud to support initiatives that strengthen systems, empower educators, and help shape brighter futures.
